In 2003, Dave and Ester DeFehr had the vision to plant a vineyard and bringing the first winery to Iredell County.
After locating the nearly 60-acre pastoral setting in Troutman, North Carolina, the land was manicured to enhance its natural features and vines were planted in 2005.
The white barn winery was constructed, and the first harvest in 2006 was a success, producing 500 cases of wine. Later the same year the rustic, timber frame-style tasting room and art gallery opened to the public.
In 2019, the DeFehrs welcomed the Carrick family as business partners. Originally from Scotland, the Carricks are entrepreneurs and wine enthusiasts, passionate about maintaining the high standard of award-winning North Carolina wines Davesté is known for.
The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it,
can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.
